June: A Month of Awareness and Empowerment
June is Men’s Mental Health Month—a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and support men in their journey toward mental wellness. Despite growing awareness, many men continue to suffer in silence, burdened by cultural expectations and internalized pressure to appear strong and unaffected. At Recoup Health, we believe mental strength begins with acknowledging vulnerability and choosing healing. This month, we’re honored to share the journey of Rohan (name changed), a 38-year-old professional who found strength, peace, and renewed purpose through our integrative Mental Health 4R approach: Relief, Root Cause, Rebalance, and Regeneration.
Rohan’s Struggle: The Hidden Toll of High Achievement
Rohan was a high-performing marketing executive. Outwardly successful, he was silently battling persistent anxiety, insomnia, and a profound sense of emptiness. He felt overwhelmed, emotionally distant, and caught in a relentless loop of pressure to perform.
Like many men, Rohan had internalized the belief that emotional struggles are a sign of weakness. This mindset led him to suppress his feelings, isolating himself and worsening his condition.
Introducing the Mental Health 4R Approach at RECOUP
Recoup Health’s 4R model is a holistic, person-centered framework rooted in functional, lifestyle, and integrative medicine, combined with advanced psychological and somatic therapies. It unfolds in four phases:
1. Relief – Easing the Immediate Pain
The initial focus was on alleviating Rohan’s symptoms to create a safe and stable foundation. Interventions included:
-
CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia)
-
Psychoeducation about mental health and stress physiology
-
Mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques
These provided him with immediate relief and a sense of control over his inner turmoil.
2. Root Cause – Understanding the Why
We conducted an in-depth, personalized assessment covering:
-
Functional medicine diagnostics to uncover biological imbalances
-
Lifestyle analysis, including work habits, sleep, and social dynamics
-
Ayurvedic evaluation, exploring mind-body constitutional imbalances
This uncovered physiological dysregulation, unresolved trauma, and environmental stressors that were silently shaping his mental state.
3. Rebalance – Reconstructing the Foundation
With clarity on root causes, Rohan’s treatment shifted to restoration and rebalancing:
-
Personalized nutrition and supplementation plans
-
Lifestyle modifications including sleep hygiene, exercise, and emotional boundaries
-
Somatic therapies like Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) and EMDR to process stored emotional pain
-
Vagal Nerve Stimulation (VNS) and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) training to regulate his nervous system
-
Targeted Ayurvedic therapies to balance his dosha and support mental clarity
This phase helped rebuild his resilience from the inside out.
4. Regeneration – Thriving Beyond Recovery
The final phase was about sustainable well-being:
-
Ongoing coaching and mental health support
-
Mindfulness and self-awareness practices
-
Monitoring with HRV metrics to ensure continued nervous system resilience
Rohan began to thrive. He was no longer surviving life—he was living it, with presence, clarity, and purpose.
A Message of Hope and Courage
Rohan’s journey is more than an individual success story it is a call to action. Men’s mental health matters. Healing is not weakness; it is courage in action. When given the right tools and support, every man has the capacity to transform.
